INDONESIA, Komodo Island – The beach of Pantai Merah is something you’ll never believe until you lay your eyes upon it. From overhead you can see clear cerulean waters caressing a pink beachline that separates a lush greenery beyond its shores.

The pinkish beach gets its striking hue from microscopic animals called Foraminifera which gives a red pigment on the coral reef. When the sea washes over, these tiny and fine red fragments get mixed in with the white sand, resulting in soft pinkish hue that has mesmerised so many people.
