For the Art Lover

Singapore is often portrayed as modern, fast-paced and business focused, but this city-state has been raising the profile of the local art scene since 1977 with the inauguration of Singapore International Festival of Arts. This year, the 42nd edition of the annual festival will run from 16 May to 2 June. There is a remarkable line-up of programmes ranging from theatre, music, dance, film and visual arts which will appeal to both casual and serious art lovers. Some notable artists include Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, American guitarist Bill Frisell, and theatre fans would be thrilled to know that the opening show is directed by Simon Mcburney.
